TO: Show Choir Participants
FROM: The Cast and Crew of Dance Network’s ‘To The Stage’
We’re coming to your school to film an episode of ‘To The Stage.’ On behalf of Dance Network we’d like to thank you for letting us join you and film your show choir. We at ‘To The Stage’ are committed to making a television show that features the best of America’s Show Choirs, and presenting them in a most positive way. We strive to showcase students, directors, and parents with the purpose of inspiring others who are passionate about dance, music, and the love of show choirs!
Below you’ll find some small requests and a checklist to make the day(s) of our shoot on your location extremely positive. If possible, include a photo of yourself with the forms. This will help us identify people on set, and will not be used for other purposes.
BEFORE THE SHOOT
Preparation and Information
INTERVIEWS
- Have ‘Adult Talent/Model Release Form’ completed on all people over the age of 21 that will appear in the episode. Please put these forms in alphabetical order, and have these ready on the day of location shooting. (Form will be sent to you via e-mail)
- Have ‘Standard Location Release Form’ ready on the day of location shooting. (Form will be sent to you via e-mail)
- Have all students complete the ‘Standard Minor Release Form’ and have them ready in alphabetical order on the day of our arrival. (Form will be sent to you via e-mail)
- Designate seven to ten students that should complete the ‘Student Interview Form’ and give these students online access to the forms. Please have this completed 10 days before our arrival to your location. (Form found through this online access)
Note that we like to interview students: From the applications we select three or four students that we will highlight.
We also like to interview directors and choreographers. We know how integral you are to the whole existence of your choir, and we’d love to get your perspective, and insights. So, you will find a form entitled ‘Director Interview Form’ and ‘Choreographer Interview Form’. These need completion 10 days before our arrival. (Forms found through this online access)
Is there a special parent, administrator, or community member who is extraordinary in their involvement or support for your group? If there is such a person who you think may offer an interesting view or be a good person to interview, please let us know. Please, per this form, let us know who they are, and why you think they’re so special for this part of our segment. Please supply this information on the ‘Support Interview Form.’ (Form found through this online access)

ARRIVAL
Let us know the best time to arrive at your school. Please keep in mind the earlier we can get there the better it is for everyone. It allows the crew to get on campus, introduce themselves to the administration, get a scope of the campus and location possibilities. Additionally we will be shooting B Roll. (This includes extra shots of the school campus, signs, trophies, students in the halls, as well as introductions and endings for the episode).
WHAT TO WEAR
If your group has uniform choir shirts or sweaters, that’s great! If not, solid colors without big brand names visible on the apparel are just as good.
REHEARSAL
Note: We tape a full rehearsal.
If possible, plan for us to be able to shoot some warm ups and vocals in the “choir room”. That would be awesome! On top of that, we would love to shoot the students and directors working together on the show choir set. So, if you have a rehearsal hall, dance space, theatre area or can plan to hold rehearsal in any sort of small performance space, we’d love to catch some of that, too.
WHAT TO EXPECT THE DAY OF THE SHOOT
Be ready to have a great time and show everyone in America what makes your show choir so wonderful. Warn students to be ready to go with the flow, and allow for some things to take a little time. We will do our best to cater to your schedule, but bear in mind we’ll have to make camera moves and shift equipment between locations. Our goal is to make your episode to look and sound as great as possible. So, with a little patience and time for our part, we’ll make sure we get the best shot we can.
